Well-Heeled Wednesday: Boden’s Sorrento Sandals

Last week, we were lamenting the somewhat drab state of summer sandals this year.  Lots of cute styles, but too reliant on neutrals.  And then, today, I found the Sorrento Sandal from Boden.  They’re neutrals, with an edge.  A bright edge, in fact.

See what I mean?

I think this gold/yellow combo is my favorite.

Although, these are lovely, too.

Well-Heeled Wednesday: Duo

First things first, I love Duo boots.  I discovered them when I was living in London and they’re pretty great.  This fall, when I’m in a boot buying mood, I’ll almost certainly gush about them in another WHW post.

This week, however, I want to highlight the classic appeal of their other shoes.  Like the boots, all of Duo’s shoes are handcrafted Italian leather.

Here’s one of my favorite pairs of heels:

And, another:

And, in honor of my undying love for wedges:

Duo’s not exactly cheap, but, in my experience, they’re worth it.  You can also check out the Outlet portion of the website for some pretty good deals.  Including, right now, these awesome booties that I bought a couple years ago.

Well-Heeled Wednesday – Sunny Days, Sunny Shoes

It is finally summer in NYC!  In celebration I am wearing ridiculous bright sandals.  What’s better on a sunny day than sunny shoes?  I’m currently coveting these DV by Dolce Vita sandals on sale at My Habit.  In addition to being adorable, DV’s shoes are reasonably priced and comfy!

Bright sandals are great paired with a neutral outfit.  If you want to kick up the fun-factor even further, try pairing them with a colorful dress.  I love to wear my bright yellow sandals with a bright blue maxi.  Summer perfection!

Well-Heeled Wednesday: Newton Running Shoes

I must start this post with a disclaimer. I am not a runner. I have tried to be a runner, but the farthest I have succeeded in running is 5K and I cursed the entire time. However, a few years ago my Mom and I participated in a 3 Day Walk for breast cancer. We walked 60 miles over the course of three days, so our feet needed some serious support. When we were training, people suggested that we try running shoes rather than walking shoes. Lucky for us, we stumbled into a little running shoe boutique on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and discovered Newtons. Now, everyone’s foot is different, so I can’t promise that these shoes will be as amazing for you as they are for me, but I LOVE them. They are hands down the most comfortable brand of athletic shoes I have ever worn. Equally exciting, for me at least, they come in obnoxiously bright colors. My original pair was yellow and orange and a fellow walker named them my “Walking on Sunshine” shoes. My current pair is bright pink and I think of them as my workout Barbie shoes. It might not work for everyone, but strapping some bright color to my feet always makes me a little bit happier to head to the gym. If you’re looking for a new pair of running/walking/thinking-about-running shoes, I highly suggest you check these out.

Well-Heeled Wednesday: Tretorns for Spring

As somewhat of a canvas shoe aficionado, I’ve had a long and happy relationship with Tretorns.  Over the years, I’ve found that their non-sneaker offerings tend to be my favorites.  For example, I bought this pair of cheery yellow flats a few years ago that I wore until the streets of New York made them too dirty to be cleaned.  I miss them.

This year, I’ve got my eye on this pair of canvas loafers.  True to Tretorn form, they’re bright, fun and simple.

And for the men (or ladies with big feet like me), I’m also loving these boat shoes.

Well-Heeled Wednesday: Fair Weather Flats

I am heading to New Orleans for a few days and can’t wait to break out my warm weather shoes. I have a closetful of fun, playful flats but I’m always coveting new pairs. Cole Haan recently introduced the Manhattan Ballet flat in a ton of awesome colors and I want them all! I especially adore the teal shown below. I can’t wait to get my hands on them, although I have to admit I’m a little sad they don’t contain Nike Air technology. Hopefully they will still be crazy comfortable!

Well-Heeled Wednesday: Seychelles Shoe Crush

I really like Seychelles shoes.  They’re a little bit vintage, often adorable and fairly comfortable.  I’ve had a couple pairs of their heels over the years and they hold up well, too.  All that, and this spring they’ve come out with what I think is the perfect pair of heeled sandals.  I have at least four weddings to attend this spring/summer and I’m thinking if I choose wisely from the colors, I might get a pair that sees me through all of them.

Pretty in Pink

Yellow is also very pretty.

Grey and Yellow — one of the very best color combos.

And finally, an awesome vibrant teal.

Well-Heeled Wednesday: Ugg Ansley Slippers

Uggs2

I love a pair of sky high heels. I covet fancy flats. But I work from home and most days I live in my comfy clothes. Still, just because I’m clad in stretchy leggings and a hoodie doesn’t mean I can’t accessorize. These lovely slippers are the perfect compliment to my work day uniform. Cozy, warm and adorable. My pair is bright purple, but they come in a variety of colors including several neutrals if you’re looking for something a little less ridiculous.

P.S. The kitties also adore my slippers.
